Rutgers University is pleased to offer intern housing to students working in the Rutgers New Brunswick/Piscataway area. The Sojourner Truth Apartments are located on the College Avenue Campus, just a short walk from the New Brunswick Train Station and downtown restaurants and shopping. Each air-conditioned unit consists of four single-occupancy bedrooms with full sized beds, two full bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. Interns will share their apartment with up to 3 additional interns from various companies. All utilities and internet/Wi-Fi are included in the cost. The cost of guest parking on campus is included for non-Rutgers-affiliated students. Rutgers students must register their vehicle separately through the student parking portal.
The building benefits from 24 hour security in the lobby, as well as Residence Life RA support. The outdoor common area features a variety of retail operations and restaurants, with mail delivery lockers on the ground floor. Sojourner Truth residents are just steps away from The Yard's jumbo outdoor screen; a place to catch the big game, meet friends and enjoy New Jersey's warm summer evenings together.
Your company's internship supervisor must complete a brief form indicating their agreement to act as sponsor before you may submit a housing application. The R-SHIP Sponsor Application is available here.
You must be over the age of 18, provide proof of current enrollment at a college or university, and provide a letter from your sponsor on company letterhead. A sample letter can be viewed here. Please have both documents ready - they will be required on the application.
The cost is $395.00 per week. Space is available in blocks of four or more weeks, with move-in as early as Sunday May 30, 2027. Spaces must be vacated no later than Saturday August 14, 2027.
All payments must be made by credit card. A $200.00 non-refundable deposit will be due in order to confirm your reservation. The balance due for the entire length of stay must be received on or before May 1, 2027.
After May 1st, interns will be assigned a room and be provided with a Welcome Letter to prepare for move-in.
