Rutgers University is pleased to offer intern housing to students working in the Rutgers New Brunswick/Piscataway area. The Sojourner Truth Apartments are located on the College Avenue Campus, just a short walk from the New Brunswick Train Station and downtown restaurants and shopping. Each air-conditioned unit consists of four single-occupancy bedrooms with full sized beds, two full bathrooms, a living room, and a kitchen. All utilities and internet/Wi-Fi are included in the cost, as well as on-campus parking for non-Rutgers-affiliated students. Interns will share their apartment with up to 3 additional interns from various companies.
The building benefits from 24 hour security in the lobby, as well as Residence Life RA support. The outdoor common area features a variety of retail operations and restaurants, with mail delivery lockers on the ground floor.
Your company's internship supervisor must complete a brief form indicating their agreement to act as sponsor before you may submit a housing application. The R-SHIP Sponsor Application is available here.
You must be over the age of 18, provide proof of current enrollment at a college or university, and provide a letter from your sponsor on company letterhead. A sample letter can be viewed here. Please have both documents ready; they will be required on the application.
The cost is $395.00 per week. Space is available in blocks of four or more weeks, with move-in as early as Sunday May 24, 2026. Spaces must be vacated no later than Saturday August 15, 2026.
All payments must be made by credit card. A $200.00 non-refundable deposit will be due in order to confirm your reservation. The balance due for the entire length of stay must be received on or before May 1, 2026.
After May 1st, full payment is due at the time of application.
Once paid in full, you will be assigned a room and be provided with a Welcome Letter to prepare for move-in.
